Update: The report is now available to read online here.
Drs. Bill Fox and Celeste Carruthers of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research are partnering with the Tennessee State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE) to release a report, “Driving Forward: Ensuring Postsecondary Students Earn Credentials In A Changing Economy.”
Register here to attend the free webinar, held July 13 at 11 a.m. EDT/10 a.m. CDT.
Former Governor Bill Haslam will be on hand as well to talk about the progress Tennessee has made in higher education over the past decade and how the state is progressing in its “Drive to 55”. TN-PEARL has been researching the outcomes of the state’s campaign, created in 2013 as an effort to have 55 percent of working-age Tennesseans hold a postsecondary credential by 2025.
The webinar will also touch on how economic recessions affect postsecondary education and the workforce, what the COVID-19 crisis and economic fallout mean for students pursuing a degree today, and the policy options that policymakers and postsecondary leaders can consider moving forward. SCORE and the Boyd Center will provide an overview of the report with policy recommendations, and education and workforce experts in Tennessee will join the program to share insights on how to best support student success in postsecondary education looking ahead.
